Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated individual for the position of Research Associate, Medicinal Chemistry to join a cross-functional research team whose goal is to discover transformative medicines for life-threatening oncology indications.  In this laboratory-based position, the successful candidate will work within a medicinal chemistry team in addition to collaborating closely with external chemistry resources and the wider research team to progress programs toward clinical evaluation.

Role and responsibilities:

  • Design and optimize small molecule and peptidomimetic compounds as part of a medicinal chemistry and program research team to identify high quality clinical candidates.
  • Propose and implement synthetic routes to access chemical space efficiently using modern synthetic methodologies.
  • Troubleshoot synthetic routes, propose experiments to solve synthetic challenges.
  • Interpret data, generate hypotheses and propose next steps to advance programs.
  • Clearly and effectively communicate ideas and results in group settings.
  • Assist in preparing patent applications and publications.

Qualifications and Abilities:

  • Masters Degree (or equivalent degree) in chemistry or related science and 1+ years of relevant employment experience, or
  • Bachelors Degree (or equivalent degree) in chemistry or related science and 3+ years of relevant employment experience.
  • Expertise in synthetic organic chemistry including the design and implementation of efficient synthetic routes.
  • Proficient in the use of modern small molecule purification and analytical techniques.
  • Strong written, verbal and presentation skills.
  • Track record of scientific contributions including publications, patents and presentations.
  • An independent thinker that also works well in team settings.
  • A scientist that enjoys working in a fast-paced innovative environment.
